My daughter couldn’t go to her #1 since her #2 was giving her lots of merit. Technically she could of gone to her #1 but she knew her brother was coming up and she knew our funds and she would have loans to pay out, or go to #2 and school would all be paid out. If your wondering and it’s at long story. She ended up going to school #3 on at large Presidential merit after transferring and we had so much 529 money left over it’s almost paying for her Master’s program she’s in now. #1 in her case actually wasn’t the best option for her. She knows that now looking back.

It’s run through Ross and they feel having the full business degree can lead to interesting opportunities. Of course there will be overlap with like Industrial engineering. Engineering with business Ross minors and other business minors like entrepreneurship. Seems to be people who want to go into business with engineering principles and people that want to go more into businesses management within engineering.

So, if there are roughly 65,000 +/- EA apps (no one knows how many, so just a pure guess) and only 7,500 +/- (guess) students are accepted during EA, then 55,000-60,000 (guess) apps are postponed/deferred into RD. I’m reading through these threads and seeing recommendations to contact admissions officers and have high school college counselors reach out on a student’s behalf as well. We would be happy to do that if it would help his chances. The one clarification I would want is whether the 55+ hours need to be post high school.

I can say without doubt that my bachelors degree was significantly harder. An MBA just isn’t particularly hard, at least compared to STEM. They evaluate you holistically. My son graduated Michigan in Industrial Engineering (Business Engineering). He had 3 years of Mandarin in high school, but in his senior year wanted to fit in Economics.
This transfer guarantee is only offered to select students who are admitted and enroll at UM-Dearborn or UM-Flint and complete 55+ transferable credits with a 3.5 or higher GPA. This transfer guarantee would permit you entry to the UM-Ann Arbor College of Literature, Science, and the Arts to complete your undergraduate degree. Students interested in transferring into another school or college would not have a guaranteed path and instead would follow our traditional transfer process. UMich waitlisting twice more applicants than they accept is perhaps part of the same strategy—make applicants feel they have a chance, but truly they don’t. In addition to its first-year admitting LEAPS program option, the Marsal Family School of Education will offer an Educator Preparation Program for first-year students interested in pursuing teacher education. I linked this thread in the original post in the other thread. I was bummed to hear about this actually. My 2026 grad will apply EA but does not want to ED…and this will make it harder! But…that’s already the case at so many other schools. I don’t know with 100% certainty but I’m almost positive if you see the triggers, then you have that feature.
My son applied regular decision to LSA for Economics in late January. Already accepted at UIUC (Econ) and IU Kelley but became more interested in Michigan after the early action deadline. You can test this out without having to wait overnight by configuring “Due date approaching” as pictured below, then setting the due time on a task to a few minutes in the future. Yes, it’s a little more work for me to integrate relevant links between the two platforms but in the end the project runs more smoothly and I’m not double dipping on task management. Asana is for deeper planning and tracking, Loop is for organization of my content and thoughts as well as stakeholder communications.

4.35 GPA weighted, 3.8-something unweighted (all A’s after freshman year in tough classes, three B’s as a freshman). 8 AP courses (Calc AB and Econ related to his major). Varsity athlete at highly ranked large suburban Chicago school, decent extracurriculars, lots of volunteer and progressive work experience. A dual business/engineering degree might prepare one for a business job within an engineering company. One always needs to determine what kind of career they want and prepare themselves the best they can for that career.
There were some ringers that we knew he would get accepted to quickly and that he visited. That was to boost the “ok, I am going to college”. We knew there were going to be some brutal decisions coming up.
